Best Three Reasons to get back into blogging

First I need to say that I’m sorry. Sorry that my blog has had to sit, quiet in cyberspace, waiting for me to come back to it. Sorry that I ignored it for so long – being away since March is unacceptable and I know that, and I’ve accepted that was a foolish thing to do.

Now that I’ve gotten that out of my system, I’m dedicating this post to the best three reasons why to get back into blogging.

This will be a short post…I’m easing myself in but here are the reasons:

1. Blogging helps me escape real life (and sometimes I need that)

2. Blogging allows me to explore the things that I love/like/hate/dislike (because hate is a strong word and should only be used in the most dire of times)

3. Blogging makes me happy – especially when I get comments, or see my stats rise from views (it’s a nice feeling).

So welcome back me…I will see you very soon!

Best Three Reasons Why Celebrities Make Me Mad

imagesGYAQZI94There (see title of my newest post)…I’ve admitted my problem to the world (and the first step of any good program is to admit you have a problem).  Yes, celebrities make me angry.  Not all of them but a lot of them.

The 21st century celebrity differs from celebrities of the past – nowadays we have the ability (thanks to social media sites like Twitter and Facebook) to know everything about them.  Do a quick search of celebs on Twitter – its amazing how many are on and are providing us with views into their world.  Celebrities of the past held a little more mystery and were a lot more private.  As Bob Dylan put it so eloquently – “the times, they are a changing” or have already changed.

The more and more I go through my ‘average’ existence, the more and more celebrities make me mad.  Maybe its because of what they are showing me of their life and realizing that my life will never be like that and unlike them – I will struggle day in and day out with the everyday ritual of life.  Trust me, this is not envy or jealousy (those are deadly sins – I wouldn’t go there) – its more of a growing anger – because celebrities have an immense influence in the world (and on people) and I sometimes which that was used for more good.

These are some of the best three reasons why celebrities make me mad

1.  The amount of money they are paid

2.  The amount of influence they have in society (and with the younger generations)

3.  How they use their money

Firstly, no person is worth a million dollars – that is ludicrous.  Yet some TV actors and actresses (Two and a Half Men, Friends, Everybody Loves Raymond, etc.) are and have been paid that some – per episode for their hit TV shows.   Someone please explain to me how they are worth that…because they are good actors – NO; because they draw in viewers – NO.  There is no actual logical reason for it.  Think of how many people will never see a million dollars in their lifetime – millions and millions of people.  This makes me mad.

They are paid to make appearances; to promote a brand; get expensive gift bags at award shows (for presenting) – LIKE THEY NEED ALL THAT SWAG – why not donate it? or refuse it?  I would like to know if anyone has ever done that before.  Here let’s give rich people stuff they can easily buy themselves!  Great logic…see it makes me mad.

My second reason is around the amount of influence celebrities have in this world.  I’ve blogged before about celebrities but lately this influence has just made me mad.  When I see the attention that Kim Kardashian gets – what has she ever done that is worthwhile.  NOTHING.  Sorry Kim, I’m sure you are lovely as a person but use that for something better.  Give away some of your millions (sorry a lot of your millions); try being a role model for young girls – female empowerment – use the business woman side to influence – not the crop top, bikini selfie pictures to get attention .   I hate to see when young kids can barely name the founding fathers or relevant people in history but they can name you every person’s name on Pretty Little Liars.

Finally, how celebs use their money.  All the pictures I ever see are celebs out spending their money – doing what you ask?  well that is easy – SHOPPING.  No wonder we are a society obsessed with what one another is wearing.  Sure, I know that celebs do provide to charity – but they could be doing so much more.  A $5,000 bag is not a necessity – that $5K could help a lot of people.

Sorry for the rant – but this ‘mad’ needed to be vented.

Best Three Ways to Recognize International Women’s Day (March 8)

International Women’s Day is on Saturday March 8.

untitled

For those of you that  don’t know about the day, it is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future.

This makes it  one extremely powerful day!  A day in which women should be celebrated.  This year’s theme is INSPIRING CHANGE.

“The story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts      of all who care about human rights” Gloria Steinem

That is why I believed that this day deserved some attention (which I always find lacking in the news).    Women are the cornerstone of society and contribute so much to everyone’s daily lives.  For me, it will be a day of reflection and a day to learn and appreciate the challenges and struggles that other women are experiencing in the world.

So I wanted to share some of the best three ways to Recognize International Women’s Day on March 8:

1.  Let everyone you know (or don’t know) that March 8th is International Women’s Day

2.  Find a woman who had inspired change in this world and learn more about her.

3.  Celebrate the day – in a way which is special and honors all of the women in the world

If you are like me, you are hooked Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook, etc. and I encourage you to use those mediums to shout it (metaphorically) to the world that it’s International Women’s Day on March 8.

Follow https://twitter.com/womensday @womensday@UN_Women @WomenforWomen @SayNO_Unite @UN and all and any other relevant group that is promoting the day.  You won’t believe the information you will find in all of those tweets.  Its amazing (and can uplift the spirit) and maybe cause people to take action against the injustices.

For my second best of three – I wanted to focus on a woman or women that truly inspiring or inspired change.  Find one and research them,  Find out all about them.  Make them a project that you want to work on.

For my last best, I think that this is a day that needs to be celebrated.  If you are a woman – make it a special day when you do something for yourself and others.  If you have children, let them know about the day and make it a celebration of women – find a way to celebrate it – make it a tradition in your family.  If you are a man, you can celebrate it too.

Dedicated to all of the women in the world.

Best Three Things I’m Looking Foward Too!

tipstagram_self8It has been awhile since I’ve blogged.  Life has a way of getting messing with my plans but I’m back and I wanted my first post of 2014 to be about the things that I’m looking forward too in 2014 (and beyond).

2013 was a year of ups and downs. Good things happened (like a trip to Las Vegas and the acceptance of a new job) but also some bad things happen (usually involving house problems) but I’ve persevered – because that is sometimes the only way…to pull up those metaphorical pants and get on with things.

So for the start of 2014, I sat myself down and did a big self-evaluation.  A self-evaluation that looked at all of the aspects of my life and how I can continue or approve upon them…it was also a little soul searching because as the year was winding down – I realized that I had lost touch with it .  No, nothing bad just that I hadn’t been paying it much attention.  Feeding the soul is something that I think gets overlooked in our lives and mine need some TLC.   That is why I did the self-evaluation – I needed to have things to look forward to and to strive for.

So here is my best three:

1.  Volunteering

2. Taking ME time

3.  Starting something new

Volunteering.  Something that I always say I want to do but end up making up so many excuses why I can’t.  Not this year.  This year, I’m looking at volunteering opportunities in my community and going to sign myself up.  I think this is something that not enough people do (and should be).  So many organizations need help.  So the question I asked myself, WHY NOT?  What is actually preventing me from NOT volunteering?  I honestly couldn’t come up with anything so now its on the top of my list to look forward too this year.

Taking capital M-E time.  This is something that I also seem to forgot to do or make excuses not to do.  This doesn’t mean I need to book spa time…no this just means that I need to focus on things that make me happy – that separate me from my the world.  For me, this means a solitary walk, listening to music, reading, playing a video game, doing crafts…it doesn’t cost money…its just for me.   I don’t do this enough and this is something I’m changing and looking forward too.

Starting something new.  If you’re like me, I usually start something but never finish it.  Or I have so many great ideas, I start but again never pursue.  That is changing this year.  This year I’m going to start a novel.  I’m going to start some new craft projects (from start to end).  I’m going to learn computer programming.  I’m not letting anything stand in my way.  No excuses.

Best Three Ways to Thank Your Mom (on Mother’s Day and on all other 364 days of the year)

 mothers_day_mkh

The role that a mother can play in her child’s life is tremendous and in honor of it almost being Mother’s Day (May 12), I wanted to devote a post to the most important women in our lives – our mothers.

For those of us that have had a positive influence from our mothers – even in a small way – it has effected us and shaped who we are (even though we may not acknowledge or realize it).  That is why today (even though I’m far away from my own mother) I wanted to share the best three ways to thank your mother and on all other 364 days of the year.

1.  Go and see her – spend time with her…and let her know you love and cherish her

2.  Talk to her (if you are not in the same place) – don’t let your life take over and forget to call – make the time (that is my own personal lesson)

3.  Surprise her with random things (not just gifts) but a walk, going to the movies, going shoe shopping together, visiting a museum etc. – this just let’s her know that you are thinking about her and that you care and enjoy her company!

To all the mother’s out there – Happy Mother’s Day

Best Three WordPress Blogs (at this moment in time)

This is a post that I’ve been wanting to do for some time.  I waited this long because I really wanted to get a sense of what was out there.  I should say that every blog that I’ve looked at and have been following are great.  All blogs are great because they are being written by ordinary people (for the most part) who have so many interesting things they want to share.  If there are people who are not out there blogging…they should be.

For me blogging is aslo a form of therapy.  Getting my ideas down, writing every day about the things that I like the best…its liberating and I’m glad that I took the initiative with myself and started.

As I write this post, I know that the three WordPress blogs that I put down today will always be a best but I know that as I continue my journey in blogging and as I read more and more blogs, this best three might change from week to week, month to month, year to year.  So for this particular post, on today’s date, the blogs that I believe are the best have been included (there are so many honorable mentions that I just couldn’t list them all but I definitely following them).  To me these blogs represent a good cross-section of life and so much more.

1.  Bucket List Publications http://lesleycarter.wordpress.com/

2. Make Something Mondays! http://makesomethingmondays.wordpress.com/

3. PopWatch http://wordpress.com/#!/read/blog/id/7531291/

My first choice is a blog that everyone should check out – Bucket List Publications.  It’s a blog about bucket lists but so much more.  It’s amazing the things that people have done and really let’s you dream and think about your own bucket list.  I’m one of the people out there that has yet to create one but after reading this blog, I think I need to write my own.  It makes me envious, it truly does.  I just start to panic to think of what I would actually include on my list and here you can read about the amazing things that people have done (and can cross off).  They are brave, courgeous and amazing people and have some very interesting things they want to do.  Thank you to Lesley Carter for capturing all of this and sharing it with the rest of us.  Job well done! and always a great read!

My second choice is Make Something Mondays!  This blog is full of great and awesome do-it-yourself projects (and a few other topics).  It is a fun blog and just a nice break to read these (and realize you might be crafty after all and that it really isn’t that hard).

The final blog that I chose was PopWatch.  This is an Entertainment Weekly blog that is always the most up-to-date with all the entertainment news you can imagine.  Its my guilty pleasure.  I just love to know what’s going on in the world of entertainment.  It’s an addictive blog and one of the first ones that I started following.

What blogs do you think should be included? Leave a comment and let me know!
