Best Three Reasons Why Celebrities Make Me Mad

imagesGYAQZI94There (see title of my newest post)…I’ve admitted my problem to the world (and the first step of any good program is to admit you have a problem).  Yes, celebrities make me angry.  Not all of them but a lot of them.

The 21st century celebrity differs from celebrities of the past – nowadays we have the ability (thanks to social media sites like Twitter and Facebook) to know everything about them.  Do a quick search of celebs on Twitter – its amazing how many are on and are providing us with views into their world.  Celebrities of the past held a little more mystery and were a lot more private.  As Bob Dylan put it so eloquently – “the times, they are a changing” or have already changed.

The more and more I go through my ‘average’ existence, the more and more celebrities make me mad.  Maybe its because of what they are showing me of their life and realizing that my life will never be like that and unlike them – I will struggle day in and day out with the everyday ritual of life.  Trust me, this is not envy or jealousy (those are deadly sins – I wouldn’t go there) – its more of a growing anger – because celebrities have an immense influence in the world (and on people) and I sometimes which that was used for more good.

These are some of the best three reasons why celebrities make me mad

1.  The amount of money they are paid

2.  The amount of influence they have in society (and with the younger generations)

3.  How they use their money

Firstly, no person is worth a million dollars – that is ludicrous.  Yet some TV actors and actresses (Two and a Half Men, Friends, Everybody Loves Raymond, etc.) are and have been paid that some – per episode for their hit TV shows.   Someone please explain to me how they are worth that…because they are good actors – NO; because they draw in viewers – NO.  There is no actual logical reason for it.  Think of how many people will never see a million dollars in their lifetime – millions and millions of people.  This makes me mad.

They are paid to make appearances; to promote a brand; get expensive gift bags at award shows (for presenting) – LIKE THEY NEED ALL THAT SWAG – why not donate it? or refuse it?  I would like to know if anyone has ever done that before.  Here let’s give rich people stuff they can easily buy themselves!  Great logic…see it makes me mad.

My second reason is around the amount of influence celebrities have in this world.  I’ve blogged before about celebrities but lately this influence has just made me mad.  When I see the attention that Kim Kardashian gets – what has she ever done that is worthwhile.  NOTHING.  Sorry Kim, I’m sure you are lovely as a person but use that for something better.  Give away some of your millions (sorry a lot of your millions); try being a role model for young girls – female empowerment – use the business woman side to influence – not the crop top, bikini selfie pictures to get attention .   I hate to see when young kids can barely name the founding fathers or relevant people in history but they can name you every person’s name on Pretty Little Liars.

Finally, how celebs use their money.  All the pictures I ever see are celebs out spending their money – doing what you ask?  well that is easy – SHOPPING.  No wonder we are a society obsessed with what one another is wearing.  Sure, I know that celebs do provide to charity – but they could be doing so much more.  A $5,000 bag is not a necessity – that $5K could help a lot of people.

Sorry for the rant – but this ‘mad’ needed to be vented.

Best Three Things I’m Looking Foward Too!

tipstagram_self8It has been awhile since I’ve blogged.  Life has a way of getting messing with my plans but I’m back and I wanted my first post of 2014 to be about the things that I’m looking forward too in 2014 (and beyond).

2013 was a year of ups and downs. Good things happened (like a trip to Las Vegas and the acceptance of a new job) but also some bad things happen (usually involving house problems) but I’ve persevered – because that is sometimes the only way…to pull up those metaphorical pants and get on with things.

So for the start of 2014, I sat myself down and did a big self-evaluation.  A self-evaluation that looked at all of the aspects of my life and how I can continue or approve upon them…it was also a little soul searching because as the year was winding down – I realized that I had lost touch with it .  No, nothing bad just that I hadn’t been paying it much attention.  Feeding the soul is something that I think gets overlooked in our lives and mine need some TLC.   That is why I did the self-evaluation – I needed to have things to look forward to and to strive for.

So here is my best three:

1.  Volunteering

2. Taking ME time

3.  Starting something new

Volunteering.  Something that I always say I want to do but end up making up so many excuses why I can’t.  Not this year.  This year, I’m looking at volunteering opportunities in my community and going to sign myself up.  I think this is something that not enough people do (and should be).  So many organizations need help.  So the question I asked myself, WHY NOT?  What is actually preventing me from NOT volunteering?  I honestly couldn’t come up with anything so now its on the top of my list to look forward too this year.

Taking capital M-E time.  This is something that I also seem to forgot to do or make excuses not to do.  This doesn’t mean I need to book spa time…no this just means that I need to focus on things that make me happy – that separate me from my the world.  For me, this means a solitary walk, listening to music, reading, playing a video game, doing crafts…it doesn’t cost money…its just for me.   I don’t do this enough and this is something I’m changing and looking forward too.

Starting something new.  If you’re like me, I usually start something but never finish it.  Or I have so many great ideas, I start but again never pursue.  That is changing this year.  This year I’m going to start a novel.  I’m going to start some new craft projects (from start to end).  I’m going to learn computer programming.  I’m not letting anything stand in my way.  No excuses.

Best Three Things About Scandal (the tv show)

For those of you who have not tuned in to Scandal starring Kerry Washington, you are missing one great tv show.  My sister was the one that recommended it to me.  I haven’t been that interested in tv lately, so if I’m going to commit to a show I need to know that it’s worth it.  In comes my sister.  She is great at knowing which shows I like and I have never been disappointed with her advice.  So I decided to download Season 1.  Oh my God!  Let me tell you, it’s been a while since any tv show has truly grabbed my interest and this show did!  I love the concept of the show.  For those that have not tuned in – here its the official description of the show:

Everyone has a secret… and Olivia Pope has dedicated her life to protecting and defending the public images of the nation’s elite and keeping those secrets under wraps. Revered and feared at the same time, Olivia, a former communications director to the President of the United States, left the White House to open her own prominent crisis management firm. She is hoping to start a new chapter in her life—both professionally and personally—but she can’t seem to completely cut ties with her past. Slowly it becomes apparent that her dysfunctional staff, who specialize in fixing other people’s lives, can’t quite fix the ones closest at hand-their own.

Olivia’s accomplished staff, who would follow her anywhere and do whatever it takes to save someone’s reputation, include Harrison Wright, a slick litigator; Huck, hacker extraordinaire; investigator Abby Whelan, don’t let that smile and red hair fool you, she’s as sharp as they come; and Quinn Perkins, the new young woman in the office who is in awe of Olivia, but is initiated in a trial by fire on her very first day on the job.

As Olivia Pope and Associates fights for the reputations and sometimes lives of their clients, Olivia’s former boss, President Fitzgerald Grant, the First Lady Millicent Grant, the President’s Chief of Staff, Cyrus Beene, and the Assistant State Attorney David Rosen are never far from her beat. Her clients aren’t the only ones with secrets, though; surprisingly, she may need to exercise all her damage control skills on her own behalf.

As soon as I was done Season 1, I downloaded Season 2.  When I like something, it always makes it on my best three list and Scandal earns a rightful place.

1.  Olivia and Fitz

2.  The Associates (Huck, Stephen, Harrison, Abby and Quinn)

3.  The Clients

Olivia and Fitz.  There is just something about these two characters that add to this show.  The ‘one minute’ thing is so great.  Just when they look at one another.  Kerry Washington and Tony Goldwyn are amazing actors.  Its true when they say you just can’t help who you fall in love with and with these two that is the truth.  The scene when they’re on the bus and Fitz says that he wished he had met Olivia first…but in reality he is a married man.  Even though I hate to admit it, I’m not for affairs but with these two, you are just routing for them.   There is so much attraction, so much passion and love, I don’t care about the consequences – I just want to see them together so they can be happy!

The Associates.  Each one is interesting and have great stories (and secrets).  They make the show enen more enjoyable, which is always important in a show like this.  They are a family and they know how to get the job done.

The Clients.  On top of the characters and their storylines – there is always the stories of the clients and those are great and again make the show enjoyable and worth watching.

Best 3 TV Shows

With this blog, I promised the best three of everything out there in the world. However my last few posts have been all about TV.  That could be cause  lately, even though I try and avoid it, I have been watching a lot of television and Netflix.  It’s scary because there are three tv shows (and there are some honorable mentions in this post) that I truly enjoy and look forward to seeing everyweek.

1.  The Vampire Diaries

2.  Sons of Anarchy

3. The Walking Dead

There are some honorable mentions: The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, The Amazing Race, The Voice,  and NCIS: LA.

Let’s talk about #1 best pick – The Vampire Diaries.  There is so much to say about this show.  It’s great – that is the first thing.  It’s filled with amazing characters (and great actors such as Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder, Joseph Morgan and the rest of the cast).  The episodes are great.  This show has a great way of not leaving you guessing which just annoys me in shows that seem to drag you along.

For those that are going to hate me for saying this – I’m still rooting for Elena and Stefan.  They belong together.  I’ve loved them together since Day 1.    Damon is hot and fun but not right for Elena.  I’m also loving the Caroline/Klaus storyline.  I’ll say that again – I’M LOVING THE CAROLINE AND KLAUS relationship – I hope this is explored – maybe Caroline can love him like he needs to be loved – that is my hope.  Seriously I’m so a fan of Caroline and Klaus – they need to be together just once and I think then I will  be happy.   Julie Plec (show’s executive producer) please take notice of all the fans rooting for Caroline and Klaus.  There is so much more to say but I will leave it there for now.

As for my second best, I love Sons of Anarchy.  What a great and original show.  Its nice to see a show that isn’t focused on lawyers, doctors or cops.  It has superb acting from Charlie Hunnam, Katey Sagal, Maggie Siff, Ron Perlman and the rest of the cast.  The episodes are full of everything from romance, to violence to drama to comedy.  It hooked me in from its very first episode.  I was so glad to hear that it is getting another season and another.  Yeah SAMCRO!!!
As for my last pick, The Walking Dead.  Like millions of other people out there – it’s an addictive show.  You just can’t stop watching to see what happens next.  It’s simply great, entertaining and that is just great for me.

If you are reading this and have never seen the shows I mention, I encourage you to check them out.

Best Three Reasons to Stay Home Instead of Going Out

As it gets closer to the weekend, I was comtemplating what I would get up to – specifically would I feel like going out to: a movie, dinner, or a bar.  The more I thought about the more I realized that I didn’t want to do any of those things.  I really wanted to stay at home.  Maybe if I was ten years younger, I wouldn’t have hesitated or even thought of staying home but now I do think that way.

This also made me evaluate the reasons why I like to stay home and hence the topic for this post.  For me, the best three reasons to stay home instead of going out are:

1. You can put on your yoga pants, t-shirts and comfty sweaters (or jogging pants, tank tops and super soft sox)

2.  You don’t need to do your makeup or hair

3.  You can still have drinks and not pay the ridiculous prices you would if you were at a bar

Anyone who has yoga pants (and I know that is a lot of ladies out there) can understand where I’m coming from.  There is nothing better than getting into yoga pants, a cotton t-shirt and a comfty sweater especially after a long week.  Yet, if I was going out,  I would feel the need to get dressed in some of the more form fitting clothes that I have and would want to ensure that I wear my high boots so that I look taller.  I would probably even change my outfit once or twice just to make sure that I look good.  All that worry and work, when if I knew I was staying home – my outfit would already be chosen.  It’s crazy the trouble we go to when going out.  Don’t get me started on picking the jewerly.

After the clothes (or even before) there is always the need to put my makeup on and that is usually more than I would normally wear.  This takes time and effort  – which is really annoying.  The same goes for the hair.  Yet, if I stay home – its easy – no makeup and hair in a ponytail.

The last things is that I can drink in the comfort of my own home and not have to worry about spending a huge amount of money on drinks.  The last time I went out, my drink was $10 dollars.  That just limits the amount I will drink but at home, there is no limit?
